Carole taught Science for 19 years at an Independent Prep School in Hove. She also became the Director of Studies, managing all educational matters in the school, before moving to Yorkshire to be nearer to her family.
She has experience in administrating Entrance Exams and an understanding of the structure and format of examination days. She helped GL Assessments trial new examination content by allowing key school years to sit mock exam papers. This enabled her to experience the wide range of questions that could be included in the 11+ exams.
Carole knows that children can be understandably anxious about taking exams and through providing structure, reassurance and understanding of each aspect of the exam papers, every child can feel more confident in their ability to take the entrance exams.
She enjoys teaching and supporting children in years 3-6 whether it is just in Maths and English or in preparation for their 11+ exams. She builds a nurturing rapport with them so that they look forward to their tutoring sessions.
Tutor really good, explains problems fully and is not afraid to change lesson plan to suit pupil's learning when required. She had a schedule to cover maths and English but it became apparent verbal reasoning was more of an issue so adapted her plans straightway.
Carole has taken the time to understand our son and connect with him, he is developing really well and the pace of work is set right to him, them is no expectations for him to do anything quicker or differently.
Carole gave my son a problem to work at and then asked him to explain how he got to the solution, although it was a different method there was no expectation for him to change how he had been taught, and he was excited to be able to show her something he knew.
